Join NACA!

NACA has an eight-member board. Two members are elected from the Qikiqtaaluk (Baffin) Region, two from the Kivalliq Region, two from the Kitikmeot Region, one non-voting member is appointed by the government of Nunavut's Department of Sustainable Development, and another non-voting member is selected by the board from those involved with arts education. The full board meets four times a year. A smaller executive board meets at least once a month.

Anyone, though, can get involved in NACA by becoming a member. Membership is free to Nunavut artists and $50/year for art organizations/galleries/government departments and others.

Membership holds a lot of benefits for artists. First, you'll receive service in Inuktitut or English. As a member, you'll also receive information about:

  • organizations that provide grants for tools and equipment, projects, travel to shows, training and more
  • organizations that provide grants/loans for business support
  • art-related events in Nunavut, Canada and around the world
  • educational opportunities
  • awards
  • community-based associations.

You'll also receive newsletters on art activities in Nunavut (contributions are appreciated!), plus copies, on request, of NACA's annual report and/or Strategic Plan Highlights. You'll have the chance to participate at such NACA events as the annual Nunavut Arts Festival, and will have the chance to market your artwork on this web site.

You'll be surveyed for your thoughts on art, and will be able to nominate and vote for the regional board members who represent your concerns on NACA during the annual general meeting. NACA lobbies for more support for the arts in Nunavut. As a member, you could be part of future projects driven by artists' requests.

Organizations that become members of NACA will find it much easier to reach NACA members with their art-related events, news, and programming information, in Inuktitut and English. They, too, will receive newsletters and can obtain copies of NACA's annual reports and/or Strategic Plan Highlights on request. They'll also be provided with a web site link.
