Many Inuit artists are also hunters, and so this program, which spent close to $2.3 million in 2000/2001, is of interest to them. It offers full-time hunters equipment such as boats, motors, all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles up to a maxium value of $12,000 per hunter. It gives out heavy-duty industrial sewing machines to women's groups, too.

NTI also has some money put aside for smaller portable sewing machines. These are sold to individuals at half price. Quantities are on a first-come, first served basis. People should contact their local Hunters and Trappers Organization (HTO) to apply for equipment under the Hunter Support Program. HTOs decide who in their community will receive equipment.
