Lucy was
born in Wager Bay in 1953. "When I was 16 years old,
I started to carve because my parents were carvers. At first,
I carved soapstone and whale bones. In the 1980's, I started
making jewellery, " Lucy explains.
Lucy looks
at the stone, and then decides what to carve, and she can
carve anything. In one piece, Lucy might use bone, bowhead
whale, limestone, and polar bear claws to make the work truly
unique. Lucy says "I try to make my own different things."
Lucy has
produced many different ring designs, and is always looking
for new ideas. Recently, she found pieces inside the codfish
head and thought of making earrings.
