Ikoo
Angutikjuaq

Community: Clyde River
Media: Stone carving
Agent/represented by: Northern Store, Clyde River

Ikoo was born in South Ford Fiord near Clyde River in 1942. He was raised in an outpost camp.

Ikoo moved into the community at age 17 when he fell in love. He grew up with his older brother, Davidee Piungiturq, a reknowned carver of bowhead whale bones. He learned from watching his brother and other artists, and began carving when he met his wife.

He carves beautiful bears, like those he hunts. He contributes to his community by going out on group hunts for caribou, and fishing to provide food for community feasts.
